Mel Gibson or Mel Columcille Gerard Gibson is one of the most gorgeous, blue-eyed hunks today. Born in January 3, 1956 at Peekskill New York, this actor, film producer, film director and screen writer has many accomplishments under his belt. The sixth child of eleven, his paternal grandmother is the Italian opera soprano Eva Mylott.
During the year 1997, Gibson was ranked as number 12 in Empire Magazine’s “Top 100 Movie Star of All Time” and People’s “50 Most Beautiful People” in the world on 1996.
At 12 years of age, the young Gibson studied acting at the National Institute of Dramatic Art and has since starred in a number of outstanding roles. Some of his most noted movies include The Passion of the Christ and Braveheart for which he received the Academy Award for Best Director. Gibson is the sixth actor-turned-director to have received this honor.
During his learning years at NIDA, Gibson made his film debut in the movie Summer City. It was on another movie “Tim” that he received the Australian Film Institute Award for the Best Actor in a Leading Role. However, it was the movie Mad Max which launched Mel Gibson into the attention of the public.
With his undeniable star quality, Gibson’s movies have grossed over 2 billion dollars in the U.S. In 2000 alone, he has played roles in three films that grossed over 100 million each namely, The Patriot, Chicken Run, and What Women Want. It was on 2002, during the promotion of the movie “Signs” that Gibson revealed his decision to act in film again if the script were truly good. It was eight years later that he again appeared in the film Edge of Darkness.
Gibson is also a partner of Icon Productions with Bruce Davey in 1989. Since then, the company has grown into an international distribution company.
