Born on September 2, 1964, Keanu Reeves is considered one of the top leading male actors in Hollywood, and according to a 2006 ET Online survey, he is one of Americaís Favorite Stars. The actor is equally known for working on eccentric roles, varying his roles from one movie to another in order to avoid getting typecast into one strict character. Reeves has successfully played characters in romantic movies, suspense and action flicks, and as Neo in the box office hit The Matrix trilogy. Some of his more eccentric roles were the cult classics Bill and Tedís Excellent Adventure, where he played a spaced-out metal head.
Aside from acting on the big screen, Reeves has also received critical success in theater. He played the title role in the Manitoba Theatre Centre production of Hamlet. This performance was praised by Roger Lewis, who said in his review, "...one of the top three Hamlets I have seen, for a simple reason: he is Hamlet."
Known to prefer living in rented homes and in hotels even after he had gained considerable fame, Reeves bought his first home in 2003. He also has an apartment in Central Park West in New York. Aside from acting, Reeves also has musical inclinations, which he actively pursued even when he was busy with movie roles. He played on the band Dogstar in the '90s and later on with the band Becky in the 2000s.
Although he currently has American and Canadian citizenship and is entitled to a British citizenship because his mother was born British, Reeves identifies himself as a Canadian. The actor, who is a Buddhist is not married. Reeves was given his own Hollywood Walk of Fame star in 2005.
