When you hear the name Duncan James, you automatically think of the popular UK boy band, Blue. After all, he was one of the four guys who made up the pop sensation. Currently though, all four are eager to improve their solo careers, as they all have launched solo albums that are not as well-received as their combined efforts.
Duncan James has a solo story of his own. He is an only child who was raised by his mom and grandparents. His dad had long been out of the picture, leaving his mom before he was even born. This unfortunate beginning did not deter him from exploring his talents. As a young lad, he was in school productions and local theaters. It was the forming of Blue in 2000, however, that made Duncan James a household name in the UK and in many other European countries. The song I Believe My Heart, his collaboration outside of Blue with soprano Keedie, reached number two in the UK singles chart. Unfortunately, his solo efforts did not fare as well. In fact, his best performing single only peaked at 35 only to fall down fast. His album did not do well. The album sold only a thousand copies in the UK on its first week. It sold about 400,000 copies worldwide, not quite what Duncan was aiming for, especially since he has blasted other Blue membersí solo efforts.
On the side, Duncan works as a television presenter and host. In 2005, his former girlfriend Claire Granger gave birth to their daughter, Tianie-Finn. Duncan promises to support his daughter though has no plans to get back with Granger. Though self-professed as strictly Catholic, Duncan opens up about his bisexuality in 2009.
